Brooklyn driver fled scene after fatal crash

A Brooklyn teenager was killed over the weekend after falling from his bicycle and being hit by a car, the authorities said.

Around 2:40 p.m. on Saturday, the boy, Henry Garcia, 13, was riding northbound on 20th Avenue in Bensonhurst, just a few blocks from his home, when he fell off his bicycle. He was struck by a green Ford Explorer that was also moving north on 20th Avenue.

Emergency workers arrived shortly after and found Henry with facial trauma and bleeding, a Fire Department spokesman said. He went into cardiac arrest and was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

The driver fled, a police spokesman said, and investigators were still searching for him Sunday evening.
