Description

This recall involves model year 2014 SCOTT men’s and women’s road bicycles, models Speedster 30, Speedster 40, Contessa Speedster 25 and Contessa Speedster 35. The bikes have the brand name “SCOTT” and the model name “Speedster” on the frame. They were sold in black and white with blue, green, purple or teal accents. The following serial number ranges are included in the recall: AS30500001–AS30504930, AS30700001–AS30704651, AS30900001–AS30903278, AS31100001–AS31103744 and AS40101604–AS40105463. The serial number is printed on a white sticker and embossed on the underside of the bicycle frame near the pedals.

Incidents/Injuries

Scott USA has received one report of a fork breaking. No injuries have been reported.

Remedy

Consumers should immediately stop riding the bicycle and take it to an authorized SCOTT dealer. Consumers with a recalled bicycle will receive a free replacement fork and have it installed at no cost.

Sold at

Authorized SCOTT dealers nationwide at retail and online from about August 2013 through May 2014 for between $1,000 and $1,300.

Description: The recalled bicycle brake models include SB Red Hydraulic Road Disc, SB Red Hydraulic Road Rim, SB 700 Hydraulic Road Disc and SB 700 Hydraulic Road Rim, used as either front or rear brakes. The SB RED brake lever is labeled "RED" on the body of the lever assembly. The SB 700 brake lever is labeled "S-Series" on the body of the lever assembly. The serial numbers for the recalled brakes have the digit "3" as the fourth digit of the serial number. The serial number can be found on the bottom of the caliper body. The brakes were sold as aftermarket products, and as original equipment on the following bicycle brands and models:

Incidents/Injuries: The firm received 95 reports of brakes failing in the U.S. One minor injury was reported in the U.S. and another in Australia.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using bicycles equipped with the recalled SRAM brake systems and contact any SRAM dealer to arrange for a free replacement product to be installed, and to receive a $200 product voucher, or cash, per customer.

Sold at: Specialty bicycle retailers nationwide from May 2013 to December 2013 for between $285 and $581 for the disc or rim brakes. Bicycles sold with the SRAM disc or rim range from $2,500 to $7,500.

Description:This recall includes 2013 model year Giant XtC Advanced SL 29er 0 and 29er 1 series bicycles and 27.2 mm carbon fiber seatposts sold separately. The SL 29er 0 model bicycle is white, black, and blue. The SL 29er 1 model is white, black, and red. The letters "XTC" appear on the down tube of the frame on both bicycles. The name "Giant" and "Contact SLR" appear on the 27.2 mm carbon fiber seatposts.

Incidents/Injuries:Giant Bicycles received five reports of the bicycle seatposts breaking. No injuries have been reported.

Sold at:Bicycle stores nationwide between November 2012 and May 2013 for between $4,300 and $7,700 for the bicycles and $200 for the seatpost sold separately.

Surly Bikes Recalls Bicycle Forks Due to Fall Hazard

Surly Pugsley Bicycle Forks

Units: About 975

Hazard: The bicycle fork can bend above the disc brake mount, posing a fall hazard to the rider.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using bicycles equipped with the recalled Surly bicycle fork, and should contact a Surly dealer for a free inspection and replacement, or a full refund.

Description: This recall involves Surly Pugsley 100mm and 135mm bicycle forks made of tubular chromoly steel. "Surly" is printed on both legs of the fork. "Pugsley" is printed on the fork's packaging and on the frame of bikes with the recalled forks. Surly Pugsley 100mm bicycle forks were sold individually only. They are black, have triple water bottle mounts on each side, rack/fender mounts on the top and bottom, and have date code 2012 03 20 stamped on the steerer tube. Surly Pugsley 135mm bicycle forks were sold individually and as part of 2013 model year complete bicycles. The 135mm forks are black, yellow or red and are stamped with date code 2012 06 19 on the steerer tube. Model number FK3175, FK3181 or FK0706 is printed on the packaging for forks sold individually. Surly Pugsley bicycle models FM3110-3114, FM3175-79, BK3110-14 and BK3175-79 were sold with the recalled forks as original equipment. The bicycle's model number is printed on the bicycle's packaging.

Incidents/Injuries: Surly Bikes has received one report of a fork bending above the disc brake mount. No injuries have been reported.

Hazard: The brakes can fail in low temperatures, posing a collision hazard.

Description: Magura MT 6 and MT 8 hydraulic disc brakes are being recalled. The brakes consist of a brake lever and master cylinder that attach to the handlebars, a hose that runs between the master cylinder, and the caliper which attaches to the rear wheel.

The MT 6 brake system is black and silver. The MT 8 brake system is black and red. Both brake systems have the Magura logo and letters "MT" on the master cylinder, and the word "Magura" on the caliper. The word "Six" is on the brake lever of the MT 6 and the word "Eight" is on the brake lever of the MT 8.

MT 6 and MT 8 brake systems with manufacture date codes between March 1, 2011 and May 31, 2012 are being recalled. A date code in format Y/MM/DD between 10301 and 20531 is located on the caliper. Additionally, all MT 6 and MT 8 brake systems without date codes are being recalled.

Incidents/Injuries: No incidents or injuries have been reported.

Description: The recalled bicycles are Mundo V4 cargo bikes. The 26-inch bicycles have steel frames, aluminum fenders on the front and rear wheels, and a wood utility deck mounted on the rear cargo rack. The bikes come in orange, black or blue. The word "Mund" is on the top tube of the bicycle frame and "Yu" is on the down tube. The serial number range for the recalled bikes is ADA11A008000 to ACA12D018000. The serial number is located on the kickstand plate.

Incidents/Injuries: Yuba Bicycles is aware of two reports of passengers having their feet caught in the rear wheel. No injuries were reported.

Units: About 200

Importer: Wilier Triestina USA LLC, of Atlanta, Ga.

Hazard: The bicycle fork's steerer tube can break while in use, posing a fall hazard.

Incidents/Injuries: None reported

Description: This recall involves Wilier Triestina model Izoard XP bicycles or framesets that were sold with carbon/alloy forks with serial numbers between LH0001 and LH4000. The serial number is located on the steerer tube of the fork, around six inches from the crown. Bicycles purchased before January 2012 are not included in this recall.

Sold at: Bicycle retailers nationwide from January 2012 through October 2012 for about $2,600 for the bicycle.

Remedy: Consumers should stop using the recalled bicycles immediately, and should have an authorized Wilier bicycle dealer check for the serial number on the fork. If it is included in the recall, the dealer will install a new Izoard replacement fork at no charge.

Norco Recalls Havoc Bicycles Due to Risk of Injury

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Name of Product: 2011 Havoc Bicycles

Units: About 90

Manufacturer: Norco Bicycles, a division of LTP Sports Group Inc., of Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada.

Hazard: The bicycle frame can crack at the joint where the top tube meets the down tube. A cracked tube can separate and cause the rider to lose control, posing a risk of injury or death.

Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received three reports of cracked frames. No injuries have been reported.

Description: This recall involves 2011 Havoc 24-inch and 26-inch bicycles. The 24-inch bicycles were sold in semi-matte grey and the 26-inch in semi-matte red. On some of the bicycles, "Norco" is printed on the firm's crest that is affixed to the head tube. Bicycle frames included in this recall have serial numbers that begin with K10DQ, K10FQ, K10IQ, K10KQ P10K, P10F or P11B. The serial number is stamped on the underside of the bottom bracket, below the word "Havoc."

Sold at: Authorized Norco dealers nationwide from November 2010 to September 2011 for about $600.

Hazard: The front fork can break, posing fall and injury hazards to riders.

Incidents/Injuries: Specialized has received four reports of front forks breaking, resulting in facial fractures, and head and shoulder injuries and cuts.

Description: This recall involves some 2008 and 2009 models women's and men's Globe model bicycles. Recalled models include the Globe Elite, Globe Sport, Globe Sport Disc, Globe Centrum Comp, Globe Centrum Elite, Globe City 6, Globe Vienna 3, Globe Vienna 3 Disc, Globe Vienna 4, Globe Vienna Deluxe 3, Globe Vienna Deluxe 4, Globe Vienna Deluxe 5 and Globe Vienna Deluxe 6 bicycles. The bicycles were sold in various colors, including gun, silver, black, khaki, navy, bone, blue, charcoal, burgundy, and gold. The brand name "Specialized" is on the lower frame tube and the model name is on various locations on the bicycle frame.

Sold at: Authorized Specialized retailers nationwide from July 2007 to July 2012 for between $550 and $1,100.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop riding these bicycles, and should return them to an authorized Specialized retailer for the free installation of a free replacement fork.

Distributor: eecycleworks LLC of La Cañada, Calif.

Hazard: The bridge of the brakes can crack, posing a fall hazard to riders.

Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received two reports of brakes cracking, one of which resulted in scrapes and bruises.

Description: This recall involves "eebrake" model aftermarket brakes sold between September, 2008 and March, 2011 for use on adult road racing bicycles. The recalled models have both a white "ee" logo on the front of the brakes and a five-digit serial number beginning with either "80xxx" or "09xxx" engraved on either the front or the back of the strut portion of the brake.

Hazard: The bicycle frame can crack, which can cause the rider to lose control and crash.

Incidents/Injuries: None reported

Description: This recall involves model year 2010 Catbike Musashi recumbent bicycles. The bicycles were sold in the following colors: black, white, silver, yellow, orange, red, lime green, pink, blue, candy purple, candy red, candy green, candy blue, and sparkle orange. "Musashi" is printed on the frame and "Catbike" is printed on the seat, frame, and headrest. Serial numbers CBM0002 to CBM0170 are included in this recall. The serial number can be found underneath the main frame where the seat bottom is located.

Sold at: Catbike authorized dealers nationwide from February 2010 through December 2010 for about $2,350.

Bicycle Stems Recalled by Ridley Bikes Due to Fall Hazard

Name of Product: 4ZA Threadless Carbon Bicycle Handlebar Stem

Units: About 105

Distributor: Sinclair Imports, of Reno, Nev., and Quality Bicycle Products, of Bloomington, Minn.

Manufacturer: Race Productions NV, Belgium

Hazard: The bicycle handlebar stems can crack or break, posing a fall hazard.

Incidents/Injuries: The firm received one report of a handlebar stem breaking, resulting in minor injuries.

Description: The recall involves all 4ZA 31.8 threadless bicycle handlebar stems sold as individual aftermarket components. The stems are black and have the words "4ZA Cycling Performance" painted on the carbon extension between the steerer clamp and handlebar clamp. The recalled stems range in extension lengths from 90mm to 130mm, approximately 3.5 to 5 inches.

Sold at: The stems were sold at specialty bicycle retailers and via websites from January 2005 through April 2010 for about $59.

Manufactured in: Taiwan

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using their bicycles and should contact the bicycle retailers where the stems were purchased, to obtain a free replacement stem. Other bicycle shops can handle the replacement process by contacting the manufacturer's current distributor, Quality Bicycle Products, Inc.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Now that spring is here, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is reminding consumers to check to see if their bicycles, bicycle components or accessories have been recalled before using them. Recalled bicycles, components, and accessories can be dangerous and cause an collision, resulting in injury, or even death. If you have a recalled product, contact the firm for the remedy. Once that's taken care of, remember to properly strap on your bike helmet!

When the consumer lifts the grab bar to remove the child from the seat, the child's fingertips can be caught in the hinge mechanism, posing a laceration and fingertip amputation hazard to the child.

Little Tricky Bicycle Helmets (30,400 units) | 12-082 | Product testing demonstrated that these helmets do not comply with CPSC safety standards for impact resistance. Consumers can suffer impact head injuries in a fall.

Salsa Cycles Recalls Bicycle Racks Due to a Fall Hazard

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Name of Product: Salsa Minimalist bicycle racks

Units: About 1,100

Manufacturer: Salsa Cycles, a wholly-owned brand of Quality Bicycle Products Inc., of Bloomington, Minn.

Hazard: The L-shaped mounting straps used to attach the bicycle rack to the front of the bicycle can break and cause the rack to fall while the bicycle is in use, posing a fall hazard to the rider.

Incidents/Injuries: Salsa Cycles has received two reports of bicycle racks breaking at the mounting straps, resulting in minor injuries from falls.

Description: This recall involves all Salsa Minimalist bicycle racks sold after January 2011. The racks are made of tubular aluminum with a black or silver finish, and can be installed on either the front or rear of a bicycle. The recalled bicycle racks have steel mounting brackets, identified as straps, with a single hole in the center used to mount the strap to the bicycle fork. "Salsa" is printed on the side of the bicycle rack.

Sold by: Bicycle retail stores nationwide and on Internet retailers from January 2011 through March 2012 for about $80.

Manufactured in: Taiwan

Remedy: Consumers should immediately remove the recalled bicycle racks, and should contact an authorized Salsa dealer for inspection, re-mounting, or refund.

Specialized Bicycle Components Recalls Bike Brake Levers Due to Crash Hazard

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Name of Product: Bicycle Brake Levers

Units: About 600

Importer: Specialized Bicycle Components Inc., Morgan Hill, Calif.

Hazard: The adjuster cap and brake cable can slide out of position and make the brakes non-operational. This can cause a rider to lose control of the bicycle, and crash.

Incidents/Injuries: Specialized is aware of one incident worldwide, in which the rider lost the function of both brakes. The firm has received no reports of injury or property damage.

Description: The recalled products are Tektro TL-83 brake levers. TL-83 levers are designed exclusively for use with aerodynamic handlebars (aerobars) sold as original equipment on 2010 and 2011 S-Works Shiv bicycle frame modules and 2012 S-Works Shiv TT bicycle frame modules. They are also sold as aftermarket service parts for these modules. The levers are modified versions of the TL-720 brake lever. They are black aluminum and have a quick release slot at the top of the lever arm. Model number "TL-720" can be read on the side of the lever arm when braking action is applied.

Sold at: Authorized Specialized Bicycle Components retailers from April 2010 to February 2012. The bicycle frame modules sold for between $5,500 and $6,100. The brake levers sold for about $80 as service parts.


Todson Recalls Bicycle Child Carrier Seats Due to Laceration and Fingertip Amputation Hazards

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately, unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell, or to attempt to resell, a recalled consumer product.

Name of Product: Topeak Babyseat(tm) II Bicycle Carrier Seats

Units: About 40,000

Importer: Todson Inc., of North Attleboro, Mass.

Hazard: A child can place his or her fingers in the opening at the grab bar's hinge mechanism. When the consumer lifts the grab bar to remove the child from the seat, the child's fingertips can be caught in the hinge mechanism, posing a laceration and fingertip amputation hazard to the child.

Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received two reports of incidents, including near amputations, that resulted in stitches and a crushed finger.

Description: This recall involves Topeak Babyseat II bicycle carrier seats with model numbers TCS2100, TCS2101 and TCS2102. Model numbers are printed on the product's packaging. The gray, plastic Babyseats were sold in three styles: Babyseat, Babyseat with disc brake compatible rack and Babyseat with non-disc brake compatible rack. The racks are used to mount the seat to the bicycle. "Topeak" is embossed on the back of the seat and is also printed on a black foam protector that covers the grab bar. A red locking lever on the side of the blue grab bar locks the bar into place.

Sold at: J&B Imports, REI, Action and Hawley, independent bicycle dealers, distributors and other retail stores nationwide and online at REI.com from January 2009 through April 2012 for between $140 and $180.

Gore Recalls Ride-On Bicycle Brake Cables Due to Fall Hazard

Name of Product: Bicycle Brake Cables for Road Bikes

Units: About 9,700 in the United States and about 200 in Canada

Manufacturer: W.L. Gore & Associates Inc., of Elkton, Md.

Hazard: When the brake cables are installed on Campagnolo(r) style brake levers, they can detach, causing the brakes to fail, and posing a fall hazard.

Incidents/Injuries: The company is aware of one report of a brake cable detaching. No injuries have been reported.

Description: This recall involves GORE(r) Ride On(r) Low Friction System brake cables for road bikes and GORE(r) Ride On(r) Professional System brake cables for road bikes. The cables are silver and are available with housings in black, white, blue, or red. "GORE Ride-On" is printed on the housing for the Low Friction cable. "GORE Ride-On Professional" is printed on the housing for the Professional System cables. The cables are being recalled only if they were installed on road bikes that use a Campagnolo-style brake lever. The ends, or attachment heads, on the Campagnolo systems have the letters "C" "CC," or "RO" imprinted on them. Shimano Recalls PRO Atherton Mountain Bike Handlebar Stems Due to Fall Hazard

Name of Product: Mountain Bicycle Handlebar Stem

Units: 213 in the United States; 83 in Canada

Manufacturer: Post Moderne Corporation, Taiwan

Importer: Shimano American Corporation, Irvine, Calif.

Hazard: The bolts holding the front plate of the stem to the stem body can be pulled out of the threads while the bike is being ridden, causing the rider to lose control of the bike and fall.

Incidents/Injuries: Shimano has received one report of an incident, in which the rider fell and received torso and arm injuries.

Description: This recall involves PRO Atherton direct mount bicycle handlebar stems with the model number PRSS0049 and supplied from October 2009 to November 2010. The stem consists of a metal alloy body and front plate and four alloy bolts. The stem body is black with red markings. It has the word "PRO" in four places on the sides and the word "Atherton." The front plate is black and silver with the PRO logo in the center. The model number is located on the barcode sticker on the backside bottom of the packaging material. Stems with the following identification codes are being recalled: HH, HJ, HK, HL, IA, IC, ID, IE and IF. Some of these stems were outfitted with 18mm bolts instead of 21mm bolts. The identification code is located on the stem body where the handlebars are seated.

Sold at: REI, bicycle specialty stores and dealers nationwide from October 2009 to November 2010 for about $120.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using bicycles with PRO Atherton handlebar stems and take them to an authorized retailer to determine if the stem on their bike is subject to the recall. Authorized retailers will replace 18mm bolts with 21mm bolts free of charge.

Thule recalls 44,000 Chariot bicycle trailers


Check your bicycle trailer before you take it out for a spin with your children. It might be part of a massive recall of Chariot Carriers by Thule Child Transport Systems.

The Canada-based company is recalling about 44,000 bicycle trailers and 70,000 trailer conversion kits, in conjunction with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Bicycle Helmets Recalled by Triple Eight Distribution Due to Risk of Head Injury

Hazard: Product testing demonstrated that these helmets do not comply with CPSC safety standards for impact resistance. Consumers could suffer impact head injuries in a fall.

Description: The recalled items are multi-purpose helmets, also sold for use as bicycle helmets. Little Tricky helmets are marketed for children and youth, and feature a large Little Tricky logo on both sides of the helmet. They come in one size and in black, white, pink, and green. Triple Eight S/M EPS Liner helmets feature a hard black inner EPS foam liner and come in black, white, bone, blue, and army green. Sector 9 S/M EPS Liner helmets feature the same EPS liner and come in gray, white, black, blue, and green. Both the Triple Eight and Sector 9 helmets have an interior label indicating the size "S/M" for small/medium and a manufacture date indicated as month/year (ex. APR/2011). Only Triple Eight and Sector 9 size "S/M" EPS Liner helmets are affected.

Hazard: The pedal body can break or crack during use, causing the rider to lose control, and posing a fall hazard.

Incidents/Injuries: Performance has received three reports of the pedals breaking. No injuries have been reported.

Description: Forté Pro Carbon Road Pedals are sold in sets of two bicycle pedals that attach to cycling shoes. The pedal body is black and is made of lightweight carbon injected thermoplastic. The axle is a black and made of chromium molybdenum steel with a black steel axle. The front, top of the pedal has "Carbon" printed in red; the top middle has "EPS-R" embossed in the body with the "R" in red and on the top rear of the pedal the word "Forté" printed in white. The outer edge of the pedal has the Forté logos, crossed F's, in white. The catalog number, 50-8128, is used in all catalogs.

Sold at: Performance's website, catalogs and Performance retail stores from February 2011 through October 2011 for about $100.

Chariot Carriers Recalls Child Bicycle Trailers and Conversion Kits Due to Injury Hazard

Name of Product: Chariot bicycle trailers and bicycle trailer conversion kits

Units: About 44,000 bicycle trailers and 70,000 bicycle trailer conversion kits

Manufacturer: Thule Child Transport Systems Ltd., d/b/a Chariot Carriers, of Calgary, Canada

Hazard: The bicycle trailer's hitch mechanisms can crack and break, causing the trailer to detach from the bicycle. This poses an injury hazard to children in the bicycle trailer.

Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received 24 incident reports worldwide, three of which occurred in the United States, involving the bicycle trailers and the conversion kits. No injuries have been reported.

Description: Chariot Carriers convert to strollers, jogging strollers and bike, hike or ski trailers. This recall involves Chariot bicycle trailers and bicycle trailer conversion kits. Recalled trailers have serial numbers from 1205-xxxx to 0710-xxxx (representing manufacture dates December 2005 through July 2010) located the left side on the frame. Recalled conversion kits have hitch arms that attach the carrier to the bicycle with model number "20100503" printed on a label attached to the aluminum tube next to the warning label. Older conversion kits without a label, but with a release push button located where the hitch arm inserts into the carrier, are also being recalled.

Sold at: Specialty bicycle stores nationwide and on various websites from December 2005 through August 2010 for between $400 and $925 for Chariot bicycle trailers and from October 2002 through August 2011 for between $40 and $70 for bicycle trailer conversion kits.

Fuji Recalls Women's Cruiser Bicycles Due to Fall Hazard

Name of Product: Fuji Saratoga Women's Bicycles

Units: About 10,500

Importer: Advanced Sports Inc. of Philadelphia

Hazard: The bicycle's frame can break in the center of the downtube during use, causing the rider to lose control and fall.

Incidents/Injuries: The company is aware of 12 reports of bicycle frames breaking, including two injuries, a head laceration requiring 20 stitches and scrapes and bruises.

Description: The recalled bicycles are Fuji women's cruiser bicycles. The 2008 through 2010 models Saratoga 1.0, Saratoga 2.0, Saratoga 3.0 and Saratoga 4.0 are included. The bicycles are various colors. "Fuji" and "Saratoga" alone or "Saratoga" along with the model number is printed on the frame of the bicycle. Serial numbers beginning with ICFJ7, ICFJ8, ICFJ9, ICFJ10 and ICFJ11 are included in this recall. The serial number is located on the bottom of the frame near the crank:

Sold by: Specialty bicycle stores nationwide from November 2007 through December 2011 for between $300 and $500.

Remedy: Consumers should stop riding the recalled bicycle immediately, and should return it to any authorized Fuji Bicycle dealers for a free replacement frame.

Full Speed Ahead Crank Sets Used By Numerous Bicycle Manufacturers Recalled Due To Crash Hazard

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately, unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell, or to attempt to resell, a recalled consumer product.

Name of Product: Full Speed Ahead BB30 Gossamer crank sets installed on numerous makers of bicycles

Units: About 9,300

Importer: Full Speed Ahead, of Woodinville, Wash.

Manufacturer: TH Industries, of Taiwan

Hazard: If the fixing bolt is over-tightened on the non-drive crank arm, the bolt shoulder can crack or break. If this occurs, the non-drive arm can fall off the bicycle, causing the rider to crash and suffer injuries.

Incidents/Injuries: Full Speed Ahead has received 11 reports of incidents, including two cases where injuries have been reported.

Description: A crank set is the component of the bicycle that the chain and pedals attach to for pedaling. The recalled models are either painted black with “Gossamer” printed in white on the arm, or white with “Gossamer” printed in black on the arm. There are two drive gears (referred to as “double”) on the crank set. The recalled crank arms were assembled as original equipment on the following bicycle models:

Gossamer BB30 non-drive crank arms that are included in the recall have serial numbers beginning with 10B, 10C, and 10D. Serial numbers are located on the backside of the crank arm by pedal threads (see pictures below).

Note: MegaExo model Gossamer cranksets and Gossamer BB30 cranksets with three drive gears (referred to as “triple” cranksets) are not involved in this recall.

Sold as: Assembled as standard original equipment on the bicycles listed. Sold by independent bicycle retailers nationwide from February 2010 through October 2010.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using bicycles that have the recalled crank arm sets, and should return bicycle to the dealer. The dealer will install the new non-drive crank arm free of charge.
